今日、スーパーマーケットに行ったら、John Lennonの『IMAGINE』が流れていて、隅っこで聞き入ってしまいました。
平和を訴える曲は数あれど、これ程までにぐっと心に刺さる曲はないなと、あらためて感動してしまいました。
家に帰って、速攻CDを探しました。 有ったはずなのに無いー、と子供を巻き込んでしばらく探していたら、有ったー
何年ぶりかに開いてみて、歌詞を読んでみたら、再度感動してしまいました。
このアルバム、1971年に発表されたという事は、約40年前の作品なんですね。
John Lennonって不思議な人だと思います。
特別に歌が上手いとか、声が美しいとかではなく、何かが心に刺さってくる感じ。
発表後は、アメリカ人の愛国心を萎えさせるという理由で、何度も放送禁止になったりしたそうです。
９１１同時多発テロの直後は、あちこちで流れていました。
心に響くからですね。
『DOUBLE FANTASY』の『BEAUTIFUL BOYS』は、聞く度に涙が出てきます。
先程あらためて聞いてみて、これ程シンプルな歌詞の中に親の気持ちを表現したJohn Lennonて、本当に素敵。
